Former EKU Standout, Kim Sarrazin, Prepares for 2004 Olympics
Former Colonel great, Kim Sarrazin, who was tagged as the 2000 Ohio Valley Conference Player
of the Year is set to play for Canada in the upcoming 2004 summer Olympics. During her senior season she was eighth in the conference
in batting average (.309) and was among league leaders in runs scored (29),
runs batted in (29), doubles (14), triples (6) and home runs (5). As the
team's primary backstop, Sarrazin recorded an impressive .986 fielding
percentage, including a .978 effort against OVC opponents. An All-OVC honorable
mention selection as a freshman, Sarrazin was named first-team All-OVC
for the three consecutive years, giving her four straight years with post
season honors.
EKU head coach Jane Worthington is extremely proud of Kim and her latest accoplishment. "Kim worked very hard to get where she is, and
EKU softball and the entire university is proud she will be participating in the Olympics representing her country." Sarrazin, a native of Canada, came to the United States after being seen in a Canadian
national tournament in British Columbia. "She was very raw when she came to Eastern, but her work ethic was so tremendous she only could improve," said Worthington. Head coach Jane Worthington hopes to make the trip to Greece in 2004 to see the former Colonel
standout play.
