Worthington has been extremely successful in the Ohio Valley Conference 20 games above .500 (102-82).
She has never had a losing OVC Record. Worthington has a strict philosophy regarding scheduling,
maintaining the only way to improve is to play the best possible competition
in the country. Her EKU teams have been extremely competitive against nationally-ranked
teams. A difficult West coast trip to California in 1996 resulted in stiff
competition, but was an excellent learning experience. In 1994, the Colonels
lost the second game of a doubleheader to third-rated Southwestern Louisiana
by a narrow 2-0 count. However, in 1995 #7 South Carolina fell to the Colonels,
3-2. Worthington turned the 1998 program from a team that was six games
under .500 in 1997 to a team that was 19 games above .500 in 1998. Eastern
captured the East Division race, and was second place overall in the OVC.
